Welcome to my little corner of the internet.
Hello, I’m Shelbi (she/her).
Midwestern lesbian. Just a cat lady with a plethora of analog hobbies.
Expect a little bit of everything here.
Stationery & Journaling
I’ve always been drawn to the world of stationery. As for many, it all started with schools supplies. However, my stationery life was changed in 2020 when I discovered the wonderful world of fountain pens. All it took was a TWSBI Eco filled with Diamine Autumn Oak and I was hooked. This new writing experience ultimately led me to journaling. I began memory/junk journaling in 2024, which has proven to be an immensely cathartic outlet for me. With the world feeling deeply chaotic and isolating, being connected to such an empathetic, supportive, and creative community has felt like a gift.
Music
Ever since I can remember I’ve been enamored with music. It was the first thing that made me feel connected to myself. I think back to sitting in my teenage bedroom, plastered with band posters, scouring Live Journal and Tumblr for bands and discographies to dive into. Using music as an escape from a tumultuous childhood, I’ve been in a perpetual state of discovery for my whole life. I began collecting records over 18 years ago, when I fell in love with a little ole band called Paramore. Their records and live shows inspired me to start playing drums. At this point in my life, I am buying records at a much slower rate, but I make sure to support the artists I really truly admire.
Film Photography
My late grandmother, Wanda, always carried around a point and shoot 35mm camera in her purse. At any time, she was ready to capture moments around her. In my late teens, I found a Pentax ZX-L at the local antique mall. I began shooting with the same spirit Wanda Jean had, capture anything and everything. I learned with time and eventually gravitated towards medium format. (Nothing beats the square, dude!)
Developing film in a makeshift darkroom inside my apartment bathroom and cataloging the negatives. From the jump, I was obsessed with the tactile nature of shooting film. Photography has opened up some amazing creative opportunities for me in my adult life and I will forever be in love with it.
These days, I primarily shoot with a Hasselblad 501CM and Kodak 120 film. I shoot my 35mm shots on a Nikon F3HP. View my portfolio below.
